Cold!

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

I just want to point out the weather differences between where we all are right now.  According to Weather.com:

Mom and Dad: 4* (feels like -6*)

Nathan & Amy:  6* (feels like 6*)

Erica and Tim:  9* (feels like -3*)

Luke and Krista:  26* (feels like 19*)

Me at work:  26* (feels like 17*)

Justin at home:  30* (feels like 23*)

I should look again in an hour, just to see how that changes with the sun and the time zone differences and all of that, but we know that I’m not going to remember to do that.

Anyway, the point was to show you that, yeah, Mom and Dad take the cake with temperatures that feel like -6*, but what happened to Georgia?!  Someone dumped a cup of ice out on the parking lot this morning and it wasn’t melting at all!  A week or so ago it was in the 70s!

I want my warm weather back. :(

Babblings

Monday, December 6th, 2010

There is this to be said for taking half a sick day — I finally got my wish list put up on the Christmas site.

Luke, what do you want for Christmas?

I really did try to go to work today.  I got there, I answered email, I tried not to bite anyone’s head off because I was just so amazingly grumpy.  And I sat there staring at my computer telling myself to just look at the stupid drawing and figure it out but I couldn’t get my brain to function.  So I came home.  It really is better for everyone all around this way.  I’ll get more accomplished Friday afternoon then I ever would today.

And hey!  I got my list up.

Justin is sick now, too, which we all knew was going to happen as soon as I wasn’t feeling well.  It’s just the natural progression of things.  Yesterday, I dragged us to the grocery store for flour, milk, and juice, and we came home with a bunch of other stuff, too.  And people at the store kept giving us funny looks, like two people staggering around talking loudly at each other was something unusual.  Just picture us 40 years older and  hard of hearing and everyone would think we were adorable.

Did you know that if you add 1 tablespoon of vital wheat gluten to all purpose flour, you end up with bread flour and your bread is much more fluffy?  I’m just now learning this and the loaf of bread I made yesterday was so tall it hit the glass of the breadmaker.  It was AMAZING.

Yeah, the brain is still not working quite right, is it?  I think it might be time for a nap.

Sick day

Saturday, December 4th, 2010

I spent most of today curled up on the couch downstairs, sleeping and watching tv.  I’ve got a cold or something — my head feels like it’s filled with cotton and I’m very tired.  Even just going upstairs and back down again leaves me exhausted.

I’ve got my nest all set up downstairs, with Justin’s help:  five pillows, three blankets, the remotes for the TV, my computer, and a tall glass of juice.  I’ve been working through Samurai 7 and I finished that before taking a nap for about 4 hours.  And I just finished watching Mary and Max.  And now I think I’ll go back to bed again.  The cotton balls are pushing at the top of my head, making me lightheaded, and a little achy.
